<Client> 8 Wonders <Date> 2006 The East Village project consists of 120,000 sqm of mixed-use development located next to Las Vegas airport. The work began with an analysis of the access system to the site, in particular the relative relationships between components. The work involved three main aspects: vehicular access, the public transport system and the parking layout. The access system was evaluated in terms of the road layout and the presence of Tropicana and Paradise. A series of field surveys allowed an accurate simulation model to be created to evaluate the problems related to access and potential queues caused by the traffic light phases. The public transport system was studied, focusing in particular on two critical elements: the first was the forecast expansion of the monorail system that currently runs parallel to the strip and the second, a shuttle system to connect East Village with the airport. East Village will in fact boast a system of luggage check-in and carrying for passengers heading to the airport; the shuttle system will take passengers directly to the terminal. The work also included configuring the layout of the parking and the accessibility to the loading and unloading area, analysing way-finding and resolving any potential problems with traffic conflicts. This phase also included an analysis of the innovative transport system within the site: the project includes a tram that connects the various parts of the site allowing easy pedestrian access from the parking areas to the buildings. <Back to Activities>Consultancy> |
