Sys-News_16-07-28

Systematica concludes successfully its wide area parking and pedestrian study of Al Muharraq, inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, under the name “Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy”. The project is promoted and developed by the Authority for Culture and Antiquities of Bahrain who is currently involved in a comprehensive requalification plan of the historical neighbourhood of Al Muharraq. Within this framework, Pearling Testimony Transport and Mobility Study is aimed at assessing present road traffic and parking conditions and proposing solutions for the rehabilitation of road network into a public space with pedestrianized areas.

The Study is solidly developed on thorough survey campaigns which data were used to compose a new GIS analytical tool, mapping the entire mobility system in Al Muharraq.
The Study considers two distinct scenarios – a short-term scenario in 2018 and a medium-term scenario in 2028 – for which it proposes a set of main strategies for pedestrian mobility and public transport, vehicular mobility and parking provision, delivery and wayfinding.
