Sys-News_16-02-12

Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), together with SRA Architects, Systematica and SNAIK, are awarded the competition for the rehabilitation of the Galeries Lafayette flagship store on the Champs Élysées Avenue in Paris.

Systematica is in charge of covering all aspects related to pedestrian movements within the shopping venue, expected to witness high footfall due to the shop’s attractiveness and location on one of the busiest shopping streets in Paris. According to the Comité Champs-Élysées, between 200,000 and 300,000 people walk along the avenue each day and, arguably, Galeries Lafayette will benefit from the high volume of pedestrian traffic.

Systematica carried out a detailed pedestrian analysis of all building floors, with a focus on the location and orientation of vertical circulation elements. The study was developed through analytical tools, such as spatial mapping and pedestrian simulation modelling, providing a detailed assessment of pedestrian traffic conditions according to multiple demand scenarios.
