Systematica’s Role in Winning Proposal for Tirana Fountain Plaza
Giving space back to nature and people is central to BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group’s winning proposal for Tirana Fountain Plaza.
We are proud to be part of the wider design team, bringing our transportation planning expertise to a project that reconsiders how pedestrians, green space, and surrounding infrastructure will interact and connect.
The proposal envisions the expansion of Rinia Park beneath and around a new mixed-use development in the center of Tirana, Albania. The new building will host offices, apartments, cultural spaces and a hotel, while keeping the ground level largely open as a public space.
Our contribution focused on extending the park over the street while ensuring effective movement for all users. The proposal also considers the possibility of pedestrianizing the adjacent traffic road and expanding the park toward the neighboring area.
The result is a vision in which mobility helps create balance between the new development and the park, allowing both to flourish.
