AET Hackaton 2026: Participants tackled Nighttime Mobility Challenges
The second edition of the AET Hackathon, co-organized by Systematica, Transform Transport, and NET Engineering, with the support of Association for European Transport, came to a conclusion last week in Rome.
This year’s challenge focused on nighttime mobility, exploring how cities can develop safer, more inclusive, and more effective strategies for mobility after dark.
Working in teams, participants developed and presented proposals addressing real-world mobility challenges through data-driven and user-centered approaches.
The winning project, U(night)ED, stood out for its community-driven response to women’s nighttime safety. The proposal leveraged existing digital platforms such as Telegram to encourage shared journeys, coordinated transit use, and mutual support while travelling.
The jury particularly appreciated the project’s bottom-up approach, recognizing its low-cost structure, immediate feasibility, and alignment with real social behaviors.
We congratulate the winning team and thank all participants for making this edition such an inspiring experience, a weekend dedicated to collaboration, research, and innovative thinking on the future of urban mobility.
We also extend our gratitude to Association for European Transport (AET) for its continued support and to the jury members for their valuable contribution.
