Shenzhen Opera House Competition

Systematica is shortlisted for stage 3 within the consortium of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and the Beijing Institute of Architectural Design (BIAD) for the International Architecture Design Competition of Shenzhen Opera House.

The Opera House will be one of the “Ten Major Cultural Facilities in the New Era” of Shenzhen – a cultural landmark expected to bring quality cultural life to the people of Shenzhen and to serve as an international platform for cultural exchanges. A cultural belt will be created to integrate coasts, communities, buildings and parks with the Opera House at the centre. The goal is to generate public and cultural activities and make the bay area vibrant.

To deliver this vision, the City of Shenzhen announced an international competition in different stages. Six teams are now shortlisted for stage 3: BIG, Kengo Kuma and Associates, Snøhetta, MVRDV, Ateliers Jean Nouvel and REX Architecture.
