Systematica US Wins Grand Prize in Maebashi Urban Design Competition
Systematica US, through its New York office, is thrilled to announce it is part of the Grand Prize-winning team—led by Mount Fuji Architects Studio —for the Maebashi Creative City: International Competition for Urban Space Design: https://creative-city.pref.gunma.jp/en/
Located just 100km from Tokyo, Japan, Maebashi is transforming into a “creative slow city” focused on art, well-being, and walkability. The competition invited global teams to reimagine a 1.5 km stretch of downtown as a people-first “transit mall” that reclaims public space and redefines the city’s relationship with mobility.
Our vision focuses on creating a sustainable, adaptable urban environment with a mobility system that is future-proof, green, and responsive to user needs. Key strategies include smart traffic management, green infrastructure for climate resilience, and prioritizing non-motorized and eco-friendly transportation options, all designed with citizen-centric, flexible spaces for various activities.
We are proud to have collaborated with:
