Lecco Waterfront
The Municipality of Lecco has recently approved the executive design for the Lecco Waterfront, allowing construction to begin on Monday, May 13th!
Upstream of Lungolario Cesare Battisti, the first of the eight intervention lots will address the 80-meter-long sidewalk between Piazza Cermenati and Via Parini.
In 2021, the first prize for the competition to refurbish the Lecco Waterfront was awarded to the project team led by Studio Paola Viganò in collaboration with Systematica, Alpina Spa, Nexteco, and Ferrara Palladino e Associati.
From its inception, the project vision has centered on enhancing the lake and urban surroundings through a blend of sustainability and tradition. From this perspective, mobility is crucial in redefining the relationship between the built and natural environments. Systematica defined the urban mobility strategies aiming to reduce the impact of vehicular traffic along the waterfront and enhance the offering of alternative modes of transport, following the strategic vision of the General Plan on Urban Traffic (PGTU) adopted by the Municipality.
Systematica also played a pivotal role in the project, handling detailed design aspects for road signage and offering support for road design across the entire project area. The refurbished lakeside promenade, stretching approximately four kilometers, integrates cycling and pedestrian paths that are part of a larger regional cycling route spanning 290 km, connecting Cremona to Sondrio (PCIR 03 – Adda). The design aimed to seamlessly integrate these paths within the built environment, ensuring smooth navigation for cyclists and pedestrians alike.
The following entities will finance the project:
– The PNRR for the waterfront promenade from Caviate to Bione
– The Lombardy Region for the cycling and pedestrian lane within the Regional and National bike network framework
– The Municipality of Lecco
