Developing mobility visions and strategies to make Barranquilla City accessible, active, innovative and safe

Barranquilla, Colombia

Systematica supported the City of Barranquilla in regenerating its urban fabric and reviewing its urban mobility plans to create a more resilient and sustainable city for a growing population. We conducted a citywide transport analysis, defining the pillars of an integrated multimodal mobility plan and prioritizing recommendations into short-term actions and long-term implementation strategies following the 15-minute city concept.

As part of the team led by Studio Paola Viganò, we oversaw the mobility strategy in line with the project’s vision for harmony between the natural and built environment. Construction ended in 2026, and now the waterfront prioritizes pedestrian accessibility, sustainable mobility, and stronger connections between the city and the lake through expanded public spaces, raised crossings, reduced car speed, and enhanced cycling infrastructure.
