Danville, Virginia, sits in a strategic position along the border of North Carolina. The city’s former industrial Schoolfield district is set to be converted into a casino resort complex. Systematica supported Sherwood Design Engineers in the creation of the mobility masterplan by evaluating the current situation, developing a cycling network, enhancing road safety and improving transport service density.

As part of the team led by Studio Paola Viganò, we oversaw the mobility strategy in line with the project’s vision for harmony between the natural and built environment. Construction ended in 2026, and now the waterfront prioritizes pedestrian accessibility, sustainable mobility, and stronger connections between the city and the lake through expanded public spaces, raised crossings, reduced car speed, and enhanced cycling infrastructure.

Greater Geneva (Franco-Valdo-Geneva agglomeration)
As part of the international design team that won the competition for the Franco-Valdo-Geneva agglomeration, we helped shape the vision for the ecological transition of a 2,000 km² region spanning 212 municipalities. We developed a comprehensive mobility strategy to improve accessibility and multimodality, and reduce the environmental impact of transport for a sustainable, inclusive, and smart future.

The Scali Ferroviari urban regeneration initiative aims at enriching and expanding Milan’s public realm. Working with CZA, Systematica developed a mobility and logistics strategy with ad hoc solutions for pedestrians and cyclists. The plan boosts public transport through a proposed Circle Line, linking all redeveloped railyards with the city and the wider metropolitan region.

Systematica was appointed by City Projects Bureau to work on the Perm General Plan, as part of a wider set of initiatives promoted by the Russian city and region. We proposed several phased interventions, from road network upgrades and public transport enhancement to parking supply and management, and finally the introduction of a stronger pedestrian and cycling network.
